State Authority for Geospatial Information and University of Tirana Agree on New Student Internship Opportunities

A cooperation agreement between the State Authority for Geospatial Information and the University of Tirana.

The State Authority for Geospatial Information, represented by General Director Ms. Vilma Tomço, and the University of Tirana, represented by Rector Mr. Artan Hoxha, today signed a mutual collaboration agreement.

The agreement includes key points such as:

– Identification, promotion, support, and cooperation in projects of mutual interest in the fields of geoinformation, information technology, product promotion, and marketing.
– Cooperation in applying for and implementing joint national and international scientific projects, as well as organizing conferences, symposia, congresses, seminars, courses, summer schools, etc.
– Promote, support and carry out joint activities in education, training and/or research.

The agreement also allows students to pursue professional and academic internships.

In her statement, General Director Ms. Tomço noted that this agreement is the product of a year-long work with the Faculty of Geography, which has led to the ideal time to enhance and expand this connection. She emphasized that the agreement will help all students of the University of Tirana, not only those from the Faculty of Geography, but also from the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and others.

Ms. Tomço also emphasized the importance of scientific research and open sessions for students, stating that this collaboration allows her university to expand its partnerships even further. She noted past partnerships with the State Cadaster Agency, the University of Pristina, the Electricity Distribution Operator, the Transmission System Operator, and other organizations.

Rector Hoxha, for his part, welcomed the partnership as a valuable chance to leverage experience and resources while also ensuring that the University of Tirana’s operations contribute to societal development. He further stated that such agreements enable the university to provide expertise to external stakeholders, hence promoting financial growth, as indicated in the Higher Education Law.
